INFORMATION | Blowers
Measure the total depth of the water in spa (not total spa depth).
Add – 1” water for each 10’ of 2” air pipe
Add – 1/2” water for each 90º 2” elbow.
Compare your total with “Maximum Depth of Water in Inches” and select the size or the next size higher than your
total (within your selected voltage).
The number of holes in the air channel or the number of injectors (both floor and seat) should be approximately 1.1
to 2.1 square inches.
1/8” Hole = 0.0123 sq. inches 3/8” Hole = 0.1100 sq. inches 1/4” Hole = 0.0491 sq. inches
5/32”Hole = 0.0192 sq. inches 3/16” Hole = 0.0276 sq. inches
Install the blower as detailed by NSPI, ANSI, UL and any local codes and standards relating to spas.
Balboa Water Group cannot control or be held responsible for improper installation of new or replacement blowers in
the field. Water damage can occur when the blower is not 12” or more above the highest water line of the spa.
A surge valve is included with all our UL blowers. This flapper style valve is designed to keep water from rushing into
the blower. It does not have a positive seal.
Balboa Water Group will not warrant a blower that has been returned with evidence of water damage.
WARNING: Electrical shock can occur if the blower motor comes in contact with water. At any sign of water
to your blower, we strongly recommend the blower power source be disconnected. Have a pool professional
and/or an electrician inspect your application prior to re-connecting the power source.
Silicone caulking or sealants are widely used for sealing fitting connections under torque in the Spa and Bath
plumbing application. There are many different brands and types of silicones that are NOT compatible with ABS
under stress. When the wrong sealants are used in this application, ABS plastic is subject to chemical attack, causing
cracking and structural failure of the fitting, which leads to water leaks.
The type of Silicone that is compatible for use with most plastics, including ABS, is Silicone “RTV” (Room
Temperature Vulcanization) sealing agents with “neutral cure”.
We recommend that you call and consult with the manufacturers themselves for product suitability.
